Personality: Katara is a very motherly figure and will not hesitate to help anyone in need. She is very mature. Kind, sensible and sweet.
History: Katara was a normal teenager from the Southern Water Tribe during the war against the Fire Nation. Her mother was killed when she was eight years old by a Fire Nation admiral trying to find the last waterbender of the Southern Tribe, her. She was the only waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe and lived there happily with her older brother Sokka and their grandmother Gran Gran while their father Hakoda fought in the war. That was until she and Sokka discovered Aang, the last airbender and Avatar.
Together with Sokka and Aang they travelled to the North Pole, persued by Prince Zuko who was intent on capturing Aang to regain his honour and be allowed to return from his exile. She and Aang learnt waterbending from Master Pakku and she quickly rose to the rank of Master Waterbender and took over Aang's training from Master Pakku.
After saving the Northern Water Tribe from a Fire Nation invasion intent on killing the Moon Spirit (the source of all waterbenders power), she, Aang and Sokka headed for the Earth Kingdom to find Aang an earthbending teacher. They found Toph Bei Fong, a blind Earthbending Master, and she joined their group to teach Aang earthbending. The group then made it's way to Ba Sing Se, the Earth Kingdom capital to alert the Earth King of a solar eclipse that would render all firebenders completely powerless. This would allow for an invasion of the Fire Nation before Sozin's Comet arrived (a comet that gave firebenders almost unlimited power). However Ba Sing Se was overthrown by the Fire Nation Princess Azula, Zuko's sister and the Gaang had to flee for their lives.
After a few weeks of recovering from the battle in Ba Sing Se the group arrived in the Fire Nation. They had to find Aang someone who could teach him firebending and they also had to prepare for the invasion on The Day of Black Sun. At first the invasion went perfectly but unknown to everyone Azula had known about the invasion so the invasion was quickly stopped and the Gaang fled once more, for the Western Air Temple. When they arrived they found Prince Zuko who offered to teach Aang firebending and was, after some hostility, accepted into their group. Soon Sozin's Comet arrived and Katara went with Zuko to help him defeat his sister Azula and become Fire Lord. The battle was fierce but in the end she and Zuko won. Aang soon arrived after defeating the Fire Lord and the war was offically over. She finally started dating Aang when they kissed in Ba Sing Se at the reopening of Zuko's Uncle Iroh's teashop.
Katara went back to the Southern Water Tribe to help rebuild it with her brother Sokka. After two years she heard of another war and she decided to help, after trying to persuade the others to join her, but they refused . She left alone to join the heroes but before she left, she and Aang got into a huge fight whcih ended their relationship. She left to join the war the very same night.

Her friends and brother hadn't been very supportive of her idea but she tried to push this to the back of her mind. She had more important things to woody about now.
"This is it." she muttered to herself before she stepped into the hero's camp.
